Fender Stratocaster - Reissue Strat Electronics
Reissue Strat Pots
All AVRI strats use CTS pots. Each pot has individual codes that denotes the year and week of manufacture. This is written as R137XXYY. XX being the year of manufacture and YY being the week of manufacture within that year. Early 1982 reissues used thin plastic wiring while all other reissues used black and white cloth covered wiring.

Reissue Strat Capacitors
Fullerton era reissues (1982-1984) used large orange Sprague capacitors. There are a few different styles of these orange capacitors that were used. The earliest reissues sometimes have a more cylindrical capacitor while later Fullerton era capacitors have a bit more of a square shape. Sometimes these large capacitors were black. Smaller red and orangish capacitors were used on later reissues.

Reissue Strat Switches
All AVRI strats came from the factory with a 3-way switch installed. A 5-way switch was included with each guitar and many 3-way switches were swapped out with 5-way switches before the guitars even left the showroom floor. It is increasingly rare to find an early AVRI strat with its original 3-way switch.
